While the FUT method was widely used in the 1990s, this method was replaced by the FUE technique in the 2000s. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the most widely used and most advanced hair follicle removal technique today. It is the removal and collection of hair follicles one by one from the donor area with special devices called Micromotor under local anesthesia. Being able to extract healthy and high quality follicles in FUE process is a very important stage that greatly affects the result of hair transplantation. Hair follicles are structurally found under the skin as single-follicled, two-folllicled and multi-follicled, such as with three, four, and five follicles. During the FUE process, collecting the hair follicles without damaging the multiple follicles will yield to having more hair in the transplantation area and obtaining a denser, more covering result. For this, specially developed tools with various sizes called “punches” are used. After removing and collecting hair follicles, called grafts, the follicles are placed one by one in the grooves opened in the area for transplantation. In almost all hair transplantation techniques, FUE method is used for collecting hair follicles.  For the transfer of the collected follicles to the hairless area, various options are available. such as slitting, grooving with sapphire blade, DHI etc.

SİLİT FUE METHOD

In this method, before the transfer of the hair follicles taken and collected with the FUE technique to the hairless area, steel-tipped slits are used for grooving where the grafts will be placed. Opening grooves with the right angles, the right depth and width is very important for a healthy hair growth and natural appearance. After the grooving process is completed, the grafts are placed one by one into the grooves with thin-tipped specially designed tools called pensets. In the grooves opened with steel-tipped slits, the tissue damage is higher and the healing process is longer. In grooving, the use of sapphire tips instead of steel ones is becoming more common.
